Nisab threshold
The Silver Nisab (52.5 Tola) is the most inclusive threshold and is widely used for cash and business assets. The Gold Nisab (7.5 Tola) is also valid; using silver tends to mean more people pay Zakat, which scholars view as more beneficial for the recipients.
What counts
Cash, savings, gold, silver, stocks, business inventory, and money owed to you all count as Zakatable assets. Outstanding debts, unpaid bills, and short-term liabilities can be deducted from the total before the 2.5% rate is applied.
